FANDOMS THAT I HAVE GAINED RECENTLY: PART 1: TV SHOWS

Ah, absence from blogging. So refreshing.
However, here I come, storming back into the blogging scene with lists of the new fandoms I have gained. But since I have SO MANY this will be divided into parts.
Starting with... PART 1: TV SHOWS! 😀
Everyone cheer, there's a party up here! Otherwise known as, let the list begin!

1. CHUCK
This brilliant action comedy is... Brilliant, I guess. With a large cast of very fresh and hilarious characters as well as fast-paced plots and ridiculously high amounts of tension at times, this show has a little bit of everything for everyone.
Favorite character: JOHN CASEY!! <3

My show OTP: Sarah and Chuck of courseee <3
Though Ellie and Awesome are amazing as well :D
My show NOTP: Umm... Chuck and Jill? Cause... no. Jill = NO.

2. GILMORE GIRLS
Such a good show!! The characters are relatable and charming, the plots are always a solid mix of dramatic and hilarious and the show has an overall lovely feeling about it that makes you always go back for more.
Favorite character: Rory Gilmore <3 I relate to her in just about... Everything.

My show OTP: LUKE AND LORELAI DUHHH <333

My show NOTP: Lorelai and anyone other than Luke, duh.

3. REBA
This touching and hysterical family sitcom is great for light-hearted fun, though it manages to touch on some serious issues in its six year run. With strong female characters this show provides quick, witty entertainment.
My favorite character: Kyra Hart!! Her sarcasm is beautiful and inspiring.

My show OTP: Van and Cheyenne <3 They're very sweet and dealt as maturely with the situation they found themselves in as could ever be expected from two teenagers.
My show NOTP: Ermmm... I don't really know... :/

4. THE MIDDLE
This not very popular but extremely endearing ABC sitcom is a pile of laughs- from the lovable cast, to the magnificently funny jokes that every episode offers, this show was an immediate favorite of mine and is well worth the watch.
Favorite character: Sue Heck. Very inspiring and funny!

My show OTP: Obviously Devin and Axl <3
My show NOTP: Cassidy and Axl... Ugh. Nope.

5. THE QUEST
I don't watch much reality TV, however this one sparked my interest- overall nerdy people from a real world put into a fantasy setting- and I'm thrilled that it did. The concept is smart and entertaining, the characters are all brilliantly nerdy and the message is inspiring. What's not to love?
Favorite character: SIR ANSGAR OF COURSE <3
Who should have won: I was rooting for Shondo from episode 1... Though more than that, I think The Paladins were pointless and Sir Ansgar could've done it all himself.

Anyway... That concludes my post. I will be back soon with a section on books- then music, then webseries.
See you soon.

Why You Should Watch Selfie- Despite How Terrible It Looked

It is I, Griffin, once more.
So... Being a huge Doctor Who fan, I like to keep up with the actors and actresses. Yes, I even forced myself through one episode of the horrible kids tv show, Tree Fu Tom,   Sophie Aldred and David Tennant voiced characters.
When I heard Karen Gillian was getting her own show I was like GIMMENOW. Then I watched the trailer. And I was like EXTERMINATETHISNOW. And the show was gone from my mind forever after. Then one day whilst I was browsing YouTube, I noticed a video of Karen Gillian singing Sia's Chandelier. Of course, after a minor fangirling moment, I quickly clicked and watched. I cried. That was when I saw that it was from her show Selfie.
So I gave the show another chance... Needless to say, I was more than hooked when Henry accidentally tagged himself on Facebook as his ex's newborn baby and couldn't undo it. Yeah, she saw that.
I watched the first nine episodes in one night and got no sleep. None. Nada. And the next night, tonight as I write this, but probably a few days later once I publish this, I finished the show. My cheeks are still streaked with tears.
So, without further adieu, I give you... WHY YOU SHOULD WATCH SELFIE LIKE NOW.

10). Dance Moves...
Eliza shows us she is basically a pro dancer:
And Henry shows us a very different side of him than we would have ever expected... :

9). Eliza going to her hipster friend's (who isn't really her friend) book club:

8). Henry's reaction when seeing how naturally beautiful Eliza is- because I think this says a lot about how people try to hide themself with makeup and stereotypically sexy clothes, when truly, they're really beautiful naturally, without any of that:

7). Sam Saperstein, the best boss ever-friendly, hilarious, and Captain of my Ship:

6). Charmonique basically owning a judgmental idiot who forgot what it means to be a Christian (no judging, love everyone):

5). Henry- his character development is astonishing, not to mention the fact that he is extremely well acted, attractive, and an overall amazing but flawed human:

4). Eliza- her character easily could have been just a dull caricature but Karen Gillian's fantastic acting turned her into so much more. She grew so much and it's all truly touching.

3). Henry & Eliza- Heliza- I shipped it from episode 1. They're just perfect for each other and... And... Oh dear I'm getting emotional again *bursts into tears*

2). The amazing and brutally honest things this show teaches- and I thought it was just a stupid sitcom.
We see how social media has negatively affected so many lives, and get some really good thoughts on how that needs to change. We sit on our phones and let life pass us by.
Eliza is a girl with "loose sexual morals" according to episode one, and this is true. Henry tries hard to stress that maybe he's not looking for sex, he's looking for the real thing- and this is an important message for society to hear- and for Eliza to hear.
The show digs into the subject of being brave enough to take the route you know is right, even when it may be risky.
And with Eliza realizing she is her own role model, this show becomes far more than a stupid comedy about a social media obsessed girl. Far more.

1). Episode 10- Imperfect Harmony.
This is the best episode of a tv show I think I have ever seen.
Eliza loves Henry. Henry clearly loves Eliza. But Henry talk to Freddie- gets the idea that Eliza is scared of a real relationship- and Henry is scared of a relationship with Eliza. So he talks to her, and though she insists she loves him- he rejects her. Twice, basically.
And the second time, it is time for Eliza to sing something for Karaoke- and she gets up on that stage and sings Chandelier by Sia.
The song starts with the line "Party girls, don't get hurt" and she just starts singing with this empty expression on her face- "Can't feel anything, when will I learn, I push it down, push it down."

And once she gets to "1 2 3 1 2 3 drink," you're basically sobbing, because you understand she is regretting her changes- because the careless and social media obsessed idiot who we met in the first episode would never have let her heart be broken like this by Henry.
And then you see her revert back to the girl we knew in episode one- dancing around drunkly, having causal sex with her ex, partying like crazy and not giving a crap about anything and it is painful to watch. So painful. And I promise, you'll cry.

And that isn't even half of the episode.

Selfie got good after...episode one. Selfie is a necessary watch, and you might think -holy FLAJIN girl, no, you just summed up the entire show for me. But I didn't, there is so much more.

13 episodes. An insanely devoted fan base trying to #saveselfie (which I am a part of.)
This show may have been cancelled after only seven episodes, and the ending might not seem very proper but it is a must watch. I promise that in some way it willl change your life.
I'm crying as I write this. I realize I probably rambled an insane amount but... Sorry. I spent way to much time on this anyway.

So, in conclusion? Please watch.

Sense and Sensibility (1995) Movie Review {NO SPOILERS}

i KNOWWWW I said my next post would be Les Miserables, but that post is going to be exceedingly long and I am far too lazy for that right now...therefore, change of plans.
I will be reviewing the 1995 film adaptation of Sense and Sensibility, a novel by Jane Austen.
Movie info:
Rating: PG (for adult situations)
Screenplay: Emma Thompson
Director: Ang Lee
Poster: (This is the one on Netflix, at least)

Now for my actual review :D
(Masculine voice) Sense and Sensibility is the tale of two sisters, Elinor and Marianne, and also some other annoying gals, a stupid dude, some lovelies, and Snape.

Okay... But really. First up characters. XD

Elinor Dashwood- portrayed by Emma Thompson:
Emma Thompson did a fantastic job portraying the lovely and complex character of Elinor- even if she was a bit old for the role at the time. She really brought to life the character (and is very good at crying, like me as I was watching. Ahem)

Next up, Marianne Dashwood- portrayed by Kate Winslet {JEANINE MATTHEWS :O}:
Kate Winslet was also really good (oh goodness this is all gonna be the same) in her role. She is also very good at crying (like me, ahem.) As a side compliment, she actually looks to be the age of the character. XD

Next we have Edward Ferrars- portrayed by Hugh Grant:

Let's just start by saying Hugh is a beautiful human... Moving on. Anyway, Hugh Grant was a perfect Edward, because- and I mean this very respectfully toward Edward because I like him very much- he was so awkward it hurt me to watch. I couldn't do it, I felt like I should leave it was SO. BLOODY. AWKWARD. Also, I wish he was in more of the movie because as previously stated, Hugh is a beautiful human. Moving on.

Now for the moment I have been waiting for- Snape- I mean Colonel Brandon, portrayed by Alan Rickman:

Alan Rickman was a PERFECT Colonel Brandon. He is perfectly grumpy looking, perfectly older yet beautiful, perfectly kind yet reserved. He plays his part beautifully and every scene with him in it was just perfection.

Next we have *gulp* WILLOWPEE. Ahem, I mean Willoughby- portrayed by Greg Wise:

Okay yes, Greg Wise did a stunning job. He looked the part (ahem, handsome,) he acted the part very well and I've got no complaints on his acting. I did want to tear his face off throughout just about all of the movie but... I was able to resist.

Those are the characters I am going to focus on, but I would also like to mention the outstanding performances by all the others, such as Fanny, Mrs. Jennings, Charlotte and John- among others.
However, I was particularly stunned by two performances- Numner one being...
Lucy portrayed by Imogen Stubbs, who's acting performance was phenomenal. She fit the image I had in my head very well.

Number two surprisingly good is Margaret, portrayed by Emilie Francois:
She seemed to almost have more character in the movie than the book, and I appreciated her a lot more.

NEXT CATEGORY: STAND OUT MOMENTS
What moments in my mind were done particularly well?
Ahem. Here we go. In no particular order.

1). SNAPE- I MEAN COLONEL BRANDON- GIVES MARIANNE THE KNIFE THINGY.
Give it you nice lovely man. XD (Dunno why I loved this scene so much)

2). ELINOR AND EDWARD MEET ONCE MORE.
This part was very painful to watch, my heart nearly exploded, yet it was brilliantly done and left me screeching at the television.

3). IF ONLY YOU WOULD STOP.
Mr Palmer. is da best.

4). CRYING.
I was crying too but this moment was very powerful. And then Mrs. Jennings with her olives.

5). POOR COLONEL BRANDON.
The best scene in the entire movie.

That will conclude this section for me, however PLEASEEEEE note that not all the best scenes are in here- such as a certain proposal, two rain rescues, Brandon telling Elinor about Beth and Willoughby at the end of the movie- yet I didn't have room for all/couldn't find pics.

So... In conclusion, a FANTASTIC MOVIE! :D
10/10 stars. Tears, laughter and everything in between.

Want to know what I'm raving about? (Of course you do)
Here are some things to do, in no particular order.
- Watch the Sense and Sensibility 1995 movie you just read my review of.
-Read the amazing book by Jane Austen.
Watch the webseries based off Sense and Sensibility- Elinor and Marianne Take Barton.

Then tell me what you did so we can fangirl.

And lastly, COMMENT OR ELSE. I WANT COMMENTSSSSS.

And let's end on this note- edits of Colonel Brandon as Snape that I found on the Internet.

Doctor Who Tag

Ello lovelies! It's Griffin! I'm here to do the Doctor Who tag, which was I believe created by the fantastic Luke Spillane. Check out his YouTube Channel here: https://youtube.com/channel/UCapEZG8fp1nMwYSwpVQ_0VQ

Anyway, I'll get right into the questions. Allons-y!
Note: For the sake of my friends who haven't explained Classic who, this shall only involve Nu-Who, I may do a separate one for the Classic Series another time.

1). Who is your favorite Doctor?
Hard question. You see I love Matt Smith and I think... He was almost my favorite for awhile. And then Capaldi came and he is lovely. But for me it always comes back to David Tennant, The Tenth Doctor. I love him with both of my hearts.

2). What is your favorite Doctor Who story?
If you know anything about me, you should know the answer. What is in my opinion the Three parter Season finale of Season 4, Turn Left/The Stolen Earth/ Journey's End.
With the return of Sarah Jane Smith, Captain Jack Harkness, Rose Tyler and family/friends, Martha Jones and cameos from Torchwood and K9, this is the most fantastic story ever.

However, in all honesty the best Doctor Who story is probably Human Nature/The Family of Blood... but Rose Tyler and Captain Jack didn't return in that one so boo. XD

3).  Who is your favorite companion?
Donna Noble. THE MOST IMPORTANT WOMAN ON EARTH.
Amelia Pond comes right after Donna though. I named my bunny Amelia Pond :D

4). What was the first Doctor Who story you ever watched?
The first episode of the Doctor Who 2005 reboot, Rose. Not one of the best but still enjoyable...

5). What is your favorite series or era?
...The Donna Noble era.

6). Which is your favorite pre or post regeneration story?
The End of Time Part 1 & Part 2, where we said farewell to our beloved Ten. Even before that sobbing was unavoidable. A beautiful story.

7). Which is your favorite TARDIS desktop theme?
Hmmm... Probably The Eleventh Doctor's second one...

8). Which villian/monster is your favorite?
Silence will fall...

9). What is the scariest Doctor Who episode you ever watched?
The Waters of Mars. No question about it. I also cried a very unhealthy amount when watching this one.
*shudders*

10). If you could be any character in Doctor Who, who would you be and why?
Amelia Pond. She's almost exactly like me, she has a husband who loves her, she's indepent and hilarious, beautiful and a published author. Yeah, easy choice.

11). Favorite non-companion character?
Do The Paternoster Gang count? If so, them.

If not, then Osgood

12). Favorite Doctor Who Christmas Special?

The Time of the Doctor since I've already mentioned The End of Time. DO NOT DROP YOUR BWOTIE DOCTOR YOU ARE NOT GOING TO REGENERATE STOPPPP #crying #crying #crying

13). Sum up in three words what does Doctor Who mean to you.

Well that's all for the Doctor Who tag! I hope you enjoyed this and I encourage you to do it as well in the comments or your own post :D
Anyway, my next post will be about Les Miserables so be prepared.

Seeya!

P.S. If any of the pictures or gifs don't work, reload the page and they should. If they still don't, please tell me :)
